Run/Walk Club

A new club in town! Georgetown Run/Walk Club (GRWC), Facebook group with over 80 member so far enters it's 5th week, meets at Tinn Lizzy's Every Tuesday 6:30PM (rain or shine) for a 5K Run/Walk followed by social. All ages, paces, levels of experience are welcome and encouraged! You can read the flyer here.

 

Camp Denison Reverse Raffle

Shop for a Cause

Did you know that you can make a free donation to the charity of your choice every time you shop at Amazon? Amazon has something called the Smile Program and if you sign up every time you shop Amazon makes a donation to the charity of your choice at Amazon’s expense. Their list of charities includes every charity registered with the IRS. The one issue you need to be aware of is the charity you pick has to have set themselves up with Amazon or the money goes into an account on hold until the charity signs up with them. I have already worked through this issue with the Georgetown Education Foundation (Georgetown Public Education Foundation Inc). Events for July and August

 

Tuesday, July 25th - Teen Event - Harry Potter Murder Mystery, Georgetown Peabody Library, 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Registration is required. Join your friends to take over the library and solve a magical murder mystery.  Solve magical problems along the way.  Once you’ve solved our crime, enter the great hall for dessert!  All events are for grades 7 – age 19.

 

Wednesday, July 26th - Healthy & Allergen-Free Baking Workshop, Georgetown Peabody Library, 6:30pm. Paula Castner will share her extensive knowledge and recipes for turning some of your favorite baked goods into healthier alternatives. Learn how to revamp your recipes to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies. No cooking, but samples and handouts of the recipes will be provided. Registration is required for this event. Sunday, July 30th - Free Concert Series at American Legion Park form 4pm to 8pm with music from 5pm to 7pm. Ipswich Brewery mobile tap will be on site, serving beer and non-alcoholic root beer! Food will be available from R&B Entertainment and Catering. Musical performance will be by: 4EverFab (Beatles Cover Band).

 

Sunday, July 30th - Mimosa Brunch a Farm to Table Event at Little North Farm, 445 North Street, 10 am to 12 noon. You can read the flyer here.

 

Saturday, August 1st - Teen Event - Nerf Games, Georgetown Peabody Library, 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Registration is required. Come play games with nerf guns like: Zombies, Capture the Flag.  Registration is required.  Rain date will be announced. All events are for grades 7 – age 19.

 

Wednesday, August 2nd - Baseball as American Culture, Georgetown Peabody Library, 6:30pm. Join us for a fascinating history of America’s game with Northern Essex Community College instructor Frank Morris. Learn about why baseball galvanized a nation that was beginning to tear apart, how baseball came to be “America’s Pastime” a decade before the Civil War, and how it developed into a world-wide phenomenon in the decades to come. This is an historical talk on baseball with most of the focus on the Boston Red Sox. Frank will share slides and statistics – Fun for all! Registration is required for this event. Saturday, August 5th (New Time) - Boston Polo versus Miami, 5pm at Boston Polo on Andover Street. General admission $10, VIP ticket $20, tailgate ticket $40, VIP box $200. Featuring a musical performance by Byfield's high school guitar wizard Quentin Callawaert, music begins at 4:15pm.

 

Saturday, August 8th - Teen Event - Escape Room, Georgetown Peabody Library, 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Registration is required. Use your brain to solve puzzles, find codes, and unlock boxes to play the game!  Can you solve the mystery to escape the room? All events are for grades 7 – age 19.

 

Wednesday, August 9th - Stained Glass Mosaic Workshop, Georgetown Peabody Library, 6:00pm. Delight in the ancient art of stained glass mosaics and create a piece of your own in this workshop led by Leslie Doherty, Ways of Color. No experience is necessary, all tools and materials are provided. Registration is required for this event. LIMIT OF 15 PEOPLE MAX. Please sign up online or call the library at 978-352-5728.

 

Saturday, August 12th - 2017 Cam Coye Memorial Basketball 3 on 3 Tournament will be held at the American Legion Park in Georgetown, MA from 8am. to 8pm. You can read the flyer here.
